Institute of Environmentology is researching for controlling human activities sustainably.

Aiming for a sustainable society

Nowadays, humankind is facing a variety of environmental and social problems; for example, global warming, the destruction of ecosystems, an increase of areas where water supplies are insufficient, the tight supply-demand situation for oil and metals, poverty, economic crises and conflicts. It is our ultimate goal as humans to solve or prevent environmental and social problems and achieve "sustainable development" or "sustainability."

In order to solve or prevent environmental and social problems and achieve sustainable development, it is also necessary to establish the science that firmly supports it. However, under the existing circumstances, each fractionalized field in natural science and humanities approaches it; therefore, the situation appears to be chaotic.

Facing this present situation, we aim to establish a systematic science for sustainable development. At the same time, we make efforts to develop practical measures for achieving sustainable development. Moreover, we lucidly express the results of our research and disseminate it widely so that a sustainable society will be achieved earlier.

Research activities

In order to solve or prevent environmental and social problems and achieve sustainable development, humans must "control" their activities appropriately. Therefore, we utilize a science that specializes in "control" and strive to establish a science for sustainable development. At the same time, we make efforts to develop practical measures to control human activities sustainably. In addition, we endeavor to establish an educational methodology for sustainable development and moreover produce practical educational programs on the basis of this methodology.

The above research is promoted by this institute independently, or in partnership with outside organizations, researchers and collaborators.

Publication

We publish the results of our research in books, journals, reports and web pages.

Lectures, presentations and workshops

We make the results of our research public through lectures and oral presentations in easy-to-understand words. In addition, we conduct workshops based on the educational programs that we have created.
